| Dan Pabon on the Economy Susan has lived in our community for 60 years. Retired now, she lives on a fixed income. Because of aide layoffs, Susan volunteers in her grandson, Ryan’s, pre-school classroom. Her daughter, Jessica, is without health insurance after she was recently laid off, and was diagnosed with breast cancer. Jessica lives close in mom’s rental home, but can’t pay the rent. Susan needs the money, but of course lets her daughter stay for free. Susan saw her property taxes go up last year and considers selling her home because the property taxes are too high.
